Ever heard of the Cenotes? Those are the jewels of the Yucatan peninsula and unique phenomena in the world. Cenotes are natural swimming holes formed by the collapse of porous limestone bedrock, which reveals a secret subterranean world of groundwater pools. For many years they were dry, and even inhabited as shown by the traces of human and animal life dating from the prehistoric time. Geological formations such as stalagmites, stalactites, columns or even fossils are decorating this unique environment. They are now flooded which allow us, divers, to safely explore them and enjoy the beauty of the tour.
From June to September, in the north of Isla Mujeres, we are lucky to be visited by the biggest fish in the world, the whale shark. Climatic conditions bringing a large amount of planktons during those months, these huge creatures come to feed in this area. Being totally inoffensive, we can safely observe and swim along with them. We can often spot manta rays tagging along with them. This is an entire day trip. In order to have optimal sailing conditions, this excursion leaves early in the morning. As well as the fun swimming part with the sharks, you will enjoy a nice lunch break tasting the ceviche and the guacamole home made by our boat captain on the beautiful beach of Playa Norte.
